1. The station for Saturday of the First Week of Lent is none other than S. Pietro in Vaticano (c. 320). Built upon an ancient necropolis near the Circus of Nero, the bones of the Apostle Peter rest under the high altar. The new basilica, consecrated in 1626, replaces the ancient Constantinian one from the fourth century.
